FAQ

What types of boring machines does Bor-It offer?
Bor-It specializes in Horizontal Auger Boring (HAB) machines. Our product line ranges from the compact Model 12 "Mighty Max" for smaller utility taps to the massive Model 60 "Destroyer" for heavy-duty industrial and municipal applications. We offer nine distinct models to ensure there is a perfect fit for any bore diameter between 4" and 60".
What industries typically use Bor-It machines?
Our machines are the industry standard for installing underground utilities. Common applications include the installation of gas, water, petroleum, sewage, and telecommunications lines under roads, railways, and existing structures.
Where are Bor-It machines manufactured?
Every Bor-It machine is proudly manufactured at our facility in Ashland, Ohio. Being a privately held, family-owned company allows us to maintain strict quality control and provide a level of personal service that larger corporations cannot match.
What is the Split Design feature, and why is it important?
Many of our models, such as the Model 36 "Workhorse" and larger units, feature a unique split-component design. This allows the power unit to be easily separated from the master track. This is crucial for: Easier Lifts: Reducing the weight of individual components for safer transport into the pit. Security: Allowing the expensive power unit to be removed from the job site overnight for safekeeping.
Can Bor-It machines handle rock or difficult soil conditions?
Yes. Our machines are engineered with high-torque gearboxes and high-pressure hydraulic cylinders. Models like the Model 42 "Thruster Buster" and the "Terminator" series are specifically packaged with high-horsepower diesel engines and load-sensing, pressure-compensated piston pumps to maximize thrust when encountering rock, cobble, or heavy clay.
What is the working range of your machine lineup?
Our machines cover a wide spectrum of casing diameters: Model 12 (Mighty Max): 4" to 12" Model 24 (Brute): 8" to 24" Model 36 (Workhorse): 12" to 36" Model 60 (Destroyer): 24" to 60" (Intermediate models are available for 20", 30", 42", 48", and 54" requirements.)
How do I choose the right model for my project?
Selection depends on three main factors: the diameter of the casing, the length of the push, and the soil conditions. For short, small-diameter utility bores, the Model 12 offers unmatched portability (only 630 lbs). For standard municipal work (12"-36"), the Model 36 is our most popular "all-rounder." For extra-rugged applications or larger diameters, we recommend the Power Plus or Terminator series.
Do you provide replacement parts and accessories?
Absolutely. We manufacture a full line of compatible augers, cutting heads, and hex drives. Because we have been in business for over 35 years, we maintain a deep inventory of replacement parts to ensure your machine stays in the field and out of the shop.
Do Bor-It machines come with a warranty?
Yes, all new Bor-It machines come with a manufacturer’s warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Please contact our sales team for specific warranty terms regarding engines and hydraulic components.
How can I get a quote or technical advice for a specific bore?
With over 55 years of boring experience, our team is always available to help. You can reach us directly at (800) 289-6639 or through our contact page to discuss your project specifications.
